Bicorp: A magical place where tradition comes to life

A town of convoluted streets with Arab influence, it is home to vibrant festivities and a rich ancestral culture.

Bicorp belongs to the region of La Canal de Navarrés, located in the province of Valencia. At present, the population is 520 inhabitants, increasing significantly in summer and other festivities.

Our village is made up of streets of uneven and convoluted shapes, reminiscent of Moorish villages and giving the village a classic Valencian high mountain appearance.

Typical products include honey, olive oil, meat and sausages. Esparto grass is also handmade. As for gastronomy, our specialities are grilled meat, gazpacho manchego, baked rice, porridge, rice with herbs, griñones, gachamiga and mojete arriero. Among the typical sweets are the brazo de gitano, minchos, aniseed rolls, rose nougat, "pastissos de moniato" and "monas de passover", as well as the rolls that are handed out on the feast of the Holy Cross, our patron saint's day.

The festivities held in our town throughout the year are the bonfire of San Antón in January, the patron saint festivities in honour of the Santa Cruz on the first weekend in May, the Cultural Week from 1 to 13 August and the main festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, San Roque and Santa Cecilia from 14 to 18 August.

In the video below you can see our traditions during the festivities in honour of the Holy Cross.
